Student-Driven Practices

Picture2018-19, Environmental Club leaders DA R., Ally K., and Bella M. work together to design light switch covers reminding students and staff to turn off the classroom lights when not in use.
SPMS strives to develop leaders and given the initiative of so many of the students, success is clearly being attained.

To the benefit of the whole school, so many individuals and small groups have contributed significantly to the SPMS green school program.  The Severna Park elementary schools have all been certified Maryland Green Schools, and as such, the students are aware and have a level of experience with program concepts.  They are well-versed in the 3Rs.

What SPMS offers these students is the venue to apply their knowledge and interests in ways that allow them to be responsible leaders and drivers of change.
